Improving How Pilots Learn

our
Story
I'm Dan George, an FAA Gold Seal instructor based in Maryland. I’ve been teaching people to fly for more than a decade, spending over 4,000 hours instructing in the cockpit alongside pilots at every stage of training. That time gave me a front-row seat to where traditional pilot education falls short. Too often, ground school becomes a box-checking exercise focused on passing a written test or checkride, rather than developing real understanding. As a result, students memorize answers without gaining the deeper insights that actually make them safer, more confident pilots.

Over the years, I became passionate about fixing that problem. I’ve always enjoyed breaking down complex topics and explaining why things work, not just what to remember. Finally, I decided to take that approach beyond the classroom. Armed with some rough animation and illustration skills, I launched FlightInsight to create scenario-based, intuitive ground training that mirrors how pilots actually think and fly.

Today, FlightInsight has helped train more than 15,000 pilots worldwide and reaches hundreds of thousands more every day through YouTube and social media. We work with flight schools, colleges, airlines, and training organizations to provide modern, relevant education that instructors can directly apply in the cockpit. The mission remains the same as it was on day one: make pilots smarter, not just test-ready.
